REGULAR CHECKUPS ON YOUR LOG HOME

Posted by Kelly Winner on

Preventative maintenance saves time and money, so it is good practice to inspect your home each spring and the fall.  This involves walking around your home and paying close attention to the stain's appearance.  Look for fading or weathering effects, loss of water repellance, or mildew fungi growth (often caused by dirt collecting on the surface of the stain creating a film for organisms to anchor and feed on).  It is important to pay close attention to the south-facing and west-facing walls of the home since these are typically exposed to more sun and elements.  If you notice severe problems (excessive checking, peeling or discoloration), tend to them immediately.  You may need to call in a professional. I-Wood-Care can help you locate someone.  We will be happy to help you!
